About the
“HOVORY” Project

The “HOVORY” project was developed by the Child Dignity Center.

The Child Dignity Center has been operating at the Ukrainian Catholic University since 2021.
Our mission is to build a culture where every child’s dignity has unconditional value. We strive to create safe environments for children in all areas of life.

By safety, we mean a comprehensive system of preventive and responsive measures that must be implemented in institutions working with children. This system should serve the best interests of the child and guarantee protection, support, and development.

In 2024, the Child Dignity Center of UCU conducted the study “A School That Is Safe for Children.” Its goal was to identify the factors that affect children’s sense of safety in educational institutions and to determine whether children, parents, and teachers perceive school safety similarly.

The study revealed differences in how children and adults understand safety, identified the factors that shape children’s sense of security, and highlighted what needs to change in order to improve school safety.

Why was the “HOVORY” project created?

7%

of children surveyed reported feeling constant anxiety during the learning process — effectively every tenth student
